Cooking Class: Intro to Ayurvedic Cooking

Agni Ayurveda

Saturday, Feb.10 2:00-6:00pm

Come and learn the basic principles of Ayurvedic cooking.  Explore time-tested techniques that bring simplicity to your kitchen. These fundamental principles will implement profound changes in your everyday diet, and bring restoration, balance, and nourishment for the mind, body, and spirit!

In the kitchen with Vata (ether and air).  Vata Dosha governs all movement in the body.  In balance, vata gives us inspiration and creative ideas, and permits our blood to circulate, our food to move in and out of the digestive track, and keeps us light and on our toes.  Out of balance, vata is prone to anxiety and fear, constipation and gas, and can be scattered and ungrounded.  Join us in the kitchen to make food that nourishes and grounds vata and explore other ways to recognize and promote healthy vata in balance.

In the kitchen with Pitta (fire and water): Pitta Dosha, is the transformative, liquid, fire element of the body.  Balanced pitta is able to catalyze, focus, and metabolize whatever comes your way; out of balance, pitta leaves us irritated, frustrated, and angry.  Learn which foods, activities, and seasons bring balance to pitta, and create a few recipes that apply what you have talked about.

In the kitchen with Kapha (water and earth): Kapha Dosha is our solid body and the grandmotherly love and devotion we can bring to life.  When out of balance, kapha can be dull, lethargic, and prone to excess weight.   In balance, Kapha brings stability, warmth, and deep patience to our lives.  Join us in the kitchen to explore some meals that balance kapha.
